Public Act 1 (HB 4239) was singed into law by Governor Granholm after the Michigan House and Senate unanimously approved the bill. The legislation amends the Michigan Employment Security Act to suspend the solvency tax and revise the confidentiality provisions.

All employers who have negative balances in their unemployment insurance experience accounts will not have to pay the solvency tax in 2009 or 2010. They will receive a tax redetermination for calendar year 2009  that removes the solvency tax that was previously assessed. Click on the links below for additional information.
